Knots About Pretzels

DISCOVER

OVERVIEW

Knots About Pretzels is a first mover in its home country, and with its growing demand and diversification into the event space in mind, I set out to completely redesign and reimagine the customer experience from initial interest to receiving the product. To achieve this, I incorporated several major components which addressed the needs of our target audience.

ROLE

Product designer

Product strategy, User Experience Researcher & Designer, Interaction, Visual Design, Prototyping, and Testing.

OUTCOME

I designed a user-centric mobile app that was a one-stop shop for everything Knots About Pretzels. The app addresses the major needs of our users.

DURATION

8 Weeks

My Mission

Who are my users?

My users include Food enthusiasts, Healthy eaters, Busy parents, The working class, and Event Planners. To conduct my research I Interviewed 4 people who formed my main User personas for about 20 minutes and later tested my prototype with a total of 15 people, which included them.

What was my challenge?

The current method of ordering and enquiring about events was very strenuous and lacked a lot of information which was necessary to make informed decisions

What did I think I will find out?

What information our users would like when making food decisions.

How the ordering process can be made more effective and straightforward.

What was my objective?

Making the ordering process much more informative and straightforward.

Designing a one-stop shop for everything Knots About Pretzels, from ordering a pretzel, to enquiring about large events.

Interview Questions

  • How do you feel about the current ordering process?

  • What are the 3 most important things to you when trying to order food?

  • What are the top 3 things that frustrate you when trying to order food?

  • Do you struggle with technology?

  • Have you ever ordered food through an app?

  • How do you feel about using an app for ordering food?

  • Is information about ingredients important to you when ordering food?

  • Based on your aforementioned 3 most important and 3 most frustrating things mentioned earlier what is non-negotiable for you when using an app to order food?

User Research Insights

DEFINE

User Personas

Post interviews, I created 4 user personas based on the people I interviewed.
Through my design process, I referred to these personas to ensure my design was in alignment with the needs of the consumers.

TESTING

User Testing Insights

Top Commendations

Users like the layout of the Menu and home page, the layout allows for one-click access to segments on  the app

Users like that the checkout page suggests other complimentary items

Users like that they can track their food preparation and delivery process easily.

Users like that they can make large orders and enquire about events on the app.

Changes I will Implement

Add an additional page linked from the combo & deals options, which displays the chosen option without going to checkout

Add a voucher page that displays only the vouchers and  is linked to the voucher button at checkout

Add a card payment page for entering
consumers' card details.

Change the layout of the account page and add a heading on the page.

Revised Prototype

POV: Watch a customer order some food to be Picked-up

OUTCOMES

Key Takeaways and Goals

I designed a consumer-centric mobile app which is a one-stop shop for Knots About Pretzels, which addresses the needs of the consumers obtained during User Research. Additionally, I revised specific areas of my design to address issues that came up during the User testing.

What next?

  • I will continue to adapt my design to accommodate new consumer needs.
  • I will continue to adopt features that will make the customer experience easier.
  • I will create user metrics to measure the efficiency of the whole app and specific service areas of the app

User Goals

  • Make the ordering process simple, easy and quick.
  • Achieve Macro-conversions (account creation & event inquiry), to push customer loyalty through marketing and ultimately increase revenue.
*These goals would be measured through metrics to help correctly assess the efficiency of the app
